Solution Description
Undoubtedly, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) features abundant functionalities,
offers low operation and maintenance expense, which will be a strong rival of PSTN
communication system that eventually will take over PBX. Compared with iPBX system,
PBX system has limitation on expansion in capacity and functionality. More and more
enterprises expect to adopt VoIP-based iPBX telephony system to enhance company
productivity and reduce operation costs. Problems still to be solved before iPBX can
replace legacy PBX system like, how to still make use of existing PBX system, whether to
change conventional dialing method, and how to avoid risks of system migration.

In a PBX system, extension cards are needed to add new extensions or external lines,
moreover,
depending on the capacity of PBX system, certain number of extension cards can be
added
In Migration Solution for VBP, the enterprise telephony system is as follows:
In this topology of VBP, extensions and external lines are added to existing telephony
system via the Internet and the Voipack Softswitch system. Where, extension 201 and
202 are PSTN telephones realizing VoIP communication by connections to the gateways;
extension 301, 302 and 303 are IP-phones directly connected with the Internet. Voipack
Soft Switch(VSS) is the core system implementing iPBX functionalities.
Dialing Plan
(1) Users of extension of 10x call each other by dialing extension number, and reach the
external line by dialing “0”.
(2) Extensions of 20x and 30x have all iPBX functionalities. Users in this extension group
dial “0” to reach the external line.
(3) Users of extensions 10x can dial “1” to access iPBX system to communicate with
extensions of 20x and 30x with iPBX telephony functionality.
(4) Users of extensions 20x and 30x can dial “9” to access PBX to communicate with PBX
extensions.
 
For example:
■Extension 101 calls 201: Dial “1” plus “201”;
■Extension 101 calls 102: Dial 202;
■Extension 201calls 101: Dial 9 plus 101;
■Extension 201 calls 202: Dial 202.
