第一章 VCM FAQ |
Why NMS can not be accessed by Windows?[TOP] |
NMS requires the Cookie. To access NMS by Windows2000, open the Cookie in |
| browser system; to access NMS by Windows98, set the security level of browser to |
| the lowest. |
The service cannot normally start up when the VCM server |
| powers down. How to resolve the problem?[TOP] |
If the server shuts down improperly, the postgresql file will not be cleared, nor |
| will the postgresql service start automatically upon next startup. To solve the |
| problem, delete the postmaster.pid file under the directory “ar b/pgsql/data”, and |
| then reboots the postgresql service. Any more questions, please contact Voipack |
| VCM engineers. |
How to play voice prompt on the gateway?[TOP] |
Voice prompt menu can be created and customized at each FXO trunk group port. |
| Similar to PBX Auto Attendant, the voice prompt will be played upon inbound calls |
| from PSTN. configuration details are shown in the figure below. |
| Current voice related configurations will be shown in the field of “Voice”. “0” |
| indicates no voice prompt is set. Click “Edit” to create your own voice prompt |
| menu. “None” indicates no voice prompt is used. Other numerals represent the |
| corresponding voice prompt to be announced. Currently, the gateway only can |
| record one piece of voice prompt, so choose “1”. |
How to implement gateway stacking behind the third party agent?[TOP] |
3rd party NAT works in two ways: One is static NAT, the other is dynamic NAT. |
| Different NAT mode requires different setting and has different limitations |
| For static NAT, identify the UDP port of each gateway behind NAT, for example, RTP |
| port of the first gateway starts from 30000, MGCP port 2427; RTP port of the second |
| gateway 40000, MGCP port 2428, and the first call must be originated by the |
| gateway behind NAT, the 3rd party NAT will establish a static port mapping |
| automatically from agents to internal gateways. Static NAT 3rd party agent devices |
| are rarely used now. For dynamic NAT, agent devices will not establish static port |
| mapping automatically from agents to internal gateways, therefore besides the |
| procedures mentioned above, a port mapping needs to be set on the 3rd party NAT |
| to ensure correct transmission of data packet. “XPEG” must be enabled on each |
| gateway. |
| MXP>set xgcp interval_reg 120 |
| MXP>activate |
| MXP>commit |

Does VCM support Gateway V5.x and V4.x fax?[TOP] |
The new version of gateway (v5.0 and above) supports T.38 fax and G.711fax, |
| but old version of gateway (4.x) only supports G.711. In order to enable the fax |
| between new and old version gateways, Call Master is set to identify between |
| gateways of different versions, therefore, the faxing between new version |
| gateways uses T.38 and faxing with old version gateways uses G.711. |
How are the caller IDs at VCM distributed?[TOP] |
Each extension or TrunkGroup of gateway has a Caller ID by default in format |
| VCM AccessCode + VPBX AccessCode + Extension (or TrunkGroup Accesscode), |
| however, in case of point-to-plane call service where service provider requires the |
| VCM to provide special Caller ID for authorization, a particular Caller ID must be |
| assigned to each gateway, thus all calls originated from ports of said gateway are of |
| a same Caller ID. |
Can call originating/termination password be set on FXO TrunkGroup?[TOP] |
Call termination password can be configured by setting FXO TrunkGroup |
| Password. Call originating password can be configured by setting PSTN password, |
| but such password protection works only in following way of dialing: |
| PSTN->FXO->H.323 (point-to-plane call service) |
| |
| |
Information of the registered gateway can be viewed through |
| “SIP Location”, but Why does the SIP gateway not work yet?[TOP] |
The information displayed in SIP Location is updated regularly, so the information |
| in SIP Location may not show the latest updated particulars of the registered |
| gateway. |
Why the interface for menu creation cannot be displayed over Windows XP?[TOP] |
If sp2 and firewall is enabled, start Sun Java client program as shown in the |
| figure below, the interface will be seen. |
| |
Why does menu creation interface not pop up as expected?[TOP] |
Check “ie” browser of Windows XP to see whether the pop-up window is barred. |
| |
Why does VPadmin program not start up?[TOP] |
The source data may be incorrectly configured. Check the particulars for source |
| data configuration. |
“Group ID” and “Department” are unavailable when adding data. Why?[TOP] |
Press “Insert”, then fill in the data to be added. |
| |
Why are some of menus unavailable?[TOP] |
Because you do not have the authorization to do so. Make sure that you are |
| authorized to login. |
The NAT gateway cannot communicate with the gateway behind it |
| under Bridge Mode (with NAT Traversal). Why?[TOP] |
NAT gateway and Bridge gateway communicate with each other only in such a |
| case that both of them use NAT Traversal or neither of them uses NAT traversal. |
